EMS  RESIDENT OPENING

Applicants must be enrolled in or working toward enrolling in a local Paramedic education program.

The Resident program at NCEMS focuses on giving paramedic students a chance at gaining experience and an education in "real life" EMS.  They live at the station, in a dorm style environment, while assisting with staffing of the ambulance as a partner to the shift Paramedic.  Some paramedic education programs have allowed NCEMS to be a clinical site; this allows the Resident/Paramedic student to use the skills they learn in school while on shift as a Paramedic Assistant (PMA).

Residents are assigned to a working shift. This shift is the same day each week and is used to complete the Resident station duties, department projects and other items as assigned.  Residents will have the opportunity to ride as a PMA on an A, B, C shift rotation.  PMA shifts are educational and are used to enhance the knowledge the Resident is gaining while attending a paramedic educational program.

Two paramedics work the day shift as staff medics; one is responsible for clinical matters and the other for operational matters. A, B, or C shifts (24-hour shifts) are each covered by a shift medic.  We have been a leader in new technology and advanced techniques; all equipment is new and state of the art.  We provide quality patient care based on the Clark County Protocols issued by the Medical Program Director.
