PUBLIC EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES

North Country Emergency Medical Service (NCEMS) is more than just an Advanced Life Support ambulance service. We also serve the community by providing affordable public safety education. You have placed your lives in our hands and we take that very seriously. This is why we believe that a trained and informed community is better prepared to handle emergencies that can occur unexpectedly. Remember, the citizen is the first link in the chain of survival. This is why we offer the most affordable and highest quality public safety education in the area. NCEMS provides the following public safety education courses:

AHA HEART SAVER BLS & FIRST AID (Class size limited to 16)

This is a six to eight hour class covering adult and pediatric (children & infants) CPR and basic first aid. This meets and /or exceeds all OSHA and WISHA standards. This is an excellent up-to-date CPR / First Aid program that promises to be a fun way to spend a day. Certification is good for two years. The fee for this program is $15.00 per person for people residing within our EMS district and $25.00 for those who live outside the district. Courses are offered on a monthly basis scheduled for the third Saturday of each month. Class begins at 9:00 a.m. and lasts until approximately 4:00 p.m.

FAMILY DISASTER PREPAREDNESS

This is a FREE two-hour course covering the fundamentals of personal preparedness before, during and after disasters. We will show you how to implement a Family Disaster Plan and how to make your home safer during a catastrophic event. This course can be taught to church groups, neighborhood associations, businesses, personal care facilities and anyone who just wants to make their home safer a place. This course can be taught on location or at our main station. There are no scheduled course dates at this time but courses can easily be scheduled. Let us help you make your home and family safer. Please contact Assistant Chief Ben Peeler/Yacolt Fire Department or Training Officer TJ Bishop/North Country EMS at 360-686-3271

CITIZEN EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAMS (CERT)

Past disasters have shown that emergency services become overwhelmed during the first hours of a disaster. History has also shown that it is the citizen who comes to the aid of the local emergency services and their neighbors. Why not join a team that works in conjunction with us and become trained to safely function during these events. This course consists of three hours one night a week for ten weeks. After successful completion of the course you will be asked to participate in biannual training to keep your skills current. This is a big commitment but well worth it.  Learn to become part of the solution and not part of the problem. Contact Janina Kerr-Bryant at 360-686-3271 for further information.
