North Country EMS has an active program which uses volunteers as Paramedic Assistants. The requirements are strict and the training is time consuming, but the rewards of being able to assist your community are strong. This program is also valuable for those interested in EMS as a career. North Country EMS is the sponsor of the Volcano Rescue Team. The VRT is an all volunteer rescue unit which is a Mountain Rescue Association certified agency. The Volcano Rescue Team provides the search / rescue / and emergency medical rescue services on Mount St. Helens and surrounding areas. The team is self supporting.
