PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A person who jumped from the bridge area at Moulton Falls was seriously injured and rushed to the hospital after a dramatic rescue Sunday afternoon, Clark County officials said.

The incident — the second similar incident at the spot within a week — unfolded just before 5 p.m. Bystanders were already providing some help to the male while he was still in the water along the rocks under the Moulton Falls bridge. Firefighters from both Clark County districts 10 and 13 arrived to help, which included launching a 10-foot inflatable raft to aid in the rescue.

Firefighters and paramedics maneuvered the raft to where he was, stabilized him and got him secured on the raft to get out of the water, officials said.

A brand new station for North Country EMS in Fargher Lake is better serving staff and the small community as a focal point along state Route 503.

For over 20 years, North Country EMS staff resided in a double-wide manufactured home and housed their units in a carport for Station 52 in Fargher Lake. The public ambulance company received grant funding from Clark County commissioners to the tune of $250,000, an America Rescue Plan Act grant of $2.75 million, and the rest of the over-$6 million station was provided from North Country EMS’s capital funds.

"We soon heard voices calling out for us and two very friendly EMTs from the North Country EMS Rescue Unit arrived. They performed a complete medical assessment, stabilized my injured leg, and relayed further detail to the SAR team via radio.

About 20 minutes later, a crew of six members from The Volcano Rescue Team arrived, carrying more emergency supplies, rescue equipment, and a single-wheel basket. They quickly loaded me up, made sure I was secure and feeling okay, and proceeded to wheel, carry, and pull me out of the forest over two miles of single-track to the staging area, where the Sheriff was directing from.

They transported us back to our car at the trailhead, which was a little over ten miles south of where they took me out. It was confirmed the next day that I fractured my fibula and tore both lateral ligaments."
