EMT-Basic Training Program (Description)

January 26 through April 27th

 

Tuesdays & Thursdays 6pm-10pm & and most Saturdays 9am-5pm

Cost: $750 per student - books included

($250 non-refundable for books and one uniform shirt included)

 

Prerequisites:

 

Class size limited to 30 students, volunteers will have priority over non-affiliated applicants. This course depends highly on internet-based study guides and it is recommended that all participants secure the use of a computer with internet access prior to class beginning.

 

Course Description

The EMT program will train individuals to the EMT level, per National Standards Curriculum, and abiding by the laws of the State of Washington. Students will be able to recognize, at the Basic Life Support level, how to assess and treat medical and trauma-related emergencies.  This class will prepare for national registry testing only. Certification in the state of Washington requires affiliation of an EMS agency.

Course Details

 

The course includes lectures and hands-on practice of techniques, including but not limited to:

  • Introduction to Emergency Care

  • CPR certification and AED use 

  • Bleeding and shock

  • Soft tissue injuries

  • Environmental emergencies

  • Lifting and moving patients

  • HIV/AIDS education
